Béatrice Belorgey, Chair of the BGL BNP Paribas Executive Committee and Head of the BNP Paribas Group in Luxembourg, recently handed a €10,000 donation to Viviane Vermeer, President of the Wonschstär Foundation, to help seriously ill, disabled and disadvantaged individuals.
In January 2021, in an effort to ensure its activities have a positive impact at every level, BGL BNP Paribas challenged all of its employees to reduce their paper consumption compared to 2020. The teams managed to reduce their overall paper use by 25% over one year.
The team that achieved the biggest reduction in paper use could name a charity of its choice to receive a donation of €10,000 from the bank. The selected charity was Wonschstär Foundation, a Luxembourg non-profit organisation that supports seriously ill, disabled and disadvantaged individuals, especially children and adults who find themselves in need after an illness, accident or stroke of fate makes their life harder. The foundation helps these individuals to realise their dreams.
This €10,000 donation will help finance an exoskeleton for a rehabilitation centre, which will enable people with chronic neurological disorders such as spinal cord injuries to learn to walk again.
Béatrice Belorgey commented: "The commitment of all BGL BNP Paribas staff led to us hitting some very ambitious targets. I would like to thank all of the teams for this collective effort, which helps ensure a more sustainable development and provide support for the most vulnerable".
