Amnesty International Luxembourg announced yesterday the appointment of Olivier Pirot as the NGO's new Director General.

Olivier Pirot joined Amnesty International Luxembourg as Director General on 1 September 2020. He succeeds Nathalie Bollen, Director ad interim, who supported the section as “change manager” for a year and a half.

Mr Pirot, a 52-year-old Luxembourg-born Belgian national, holds two bachelor's degrees in law and economics, a master's degree in management and a master's degree in political science and international relations. He worked for twelve years in Luxembourg in the private (FNP group, Luxair Group) and research (CRP Tudor) sectors before building up a solid experience of twelve years in humanitarian action as emergency coordinator or head of mission at Handicap International and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in various countries, including Cambodia, Afghanistan, Haiti, Pakistan and South Sudan. For the past 16 months, he has been Desk Officer in charge of Caritas Luxembourg projects in north-west Syria.
