Fondation Autisme Luxembourg (FAL) has announced plans to open a new home for six residents with autism.

From Monday 5 October 2020, the foundation will accommodate six new residents with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in a new home in Rambrouch.

Created in 1996, the FAL strives to broaden the range of its services and meet the needs of families not yet covered in Luxembourg. There are still too many families in the Grand Duchy who cannot find accommodation for their children with autism. This is why the FAL continues to develop accommodation services, such as the new home in Rambrouch.

As with existing structures, the objective of this new home is to provide a suitable place to live, open 365 days a year and welcoming people with autism of different degrees of autonomy and age groups. The living quarters are complemented by a day centre offering various workshops.

The families moving in to this new structure will have their own private room as well as common rooms to be shared with the other residents. Three of the new residents are minors and still attending school. They will live with others in the home and attend the CTSA (centre for children and youth with ASD) during the day. This is the first time that young people still of school age will move into an FAL home and the foundation will adapt its operation to meet their individual needs.

The six residents (aged 13 to 28) will begin a new chapter in their lives by moving in to this accommodation structure. The FAL will focus on providing continuous support to their parents, remaining in close contact with these families to keep them informed of the development of their children. A newly formed team, made up largely of experienced staff but also new collaborators, will provide support and offer a better quality of life to these six individuals.

From October, the FAL will be present throughout the year for 38 residents on the sites of Munzen and Rambrouch.
