The Handicap International (HI) Luxembourg team, which has been working alongside people with disabilities and vulnerable people since 1997, announced today the arrival of its new director, Mehdi Magha.
Accompanied by his team, Mehdi Magha will pursue and develop actions in Luxembourg to act and testify in favour of the beneficiaries of the countries of intervention of the international network of the NGO.
It was in his conviction that Handicap International is a real actor of change in terms of humanitarian aid and development that Mehdi Magha accepted this new challenge. He joined the ranks of the Luxembourg association this month after having led for many years the fundraising of Médecins Sans Frontières Belgium as deputy director and directed the public health campaigns of Euro RSCG Life as Director of its Belgian subsidiary.
Today, on the strength of his professional experiences and his commitment as a volunteer in the disability assistance sector, Mehdi Magha wishes to act on a larger scale so that people with disabilities are fully recognized in their rights as citizens. He explained: "Allowing support for the most vulnerable people and fair access to information, care and health services are all goals that have a deep meaning for me and that I would strive to achieve with my entire team".
The new director can count on around 20 employees based at 140 Rue Adolphe Fischer in Luxembourg City. They work both in the 20 or so countries where Handicap International Luxembourg is involved in projects co-financed by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and in the Grand Duchy itself, with the public or private donors, in the areas of fundraising and development education.
Outgoing director Martin Lagneau commented: "Mehdi will put at the service of HI his wealth of experience in the fields of health and non-profit organisations. His determination to uphold the values of Handicap International loud and clear make him a real asset for continuing our work, which began more than 20 years ago now with citizens in Luxembourg and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs".
