On Thursday 8 January 2026, the British Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg (BCC) held its Members’ New Year Cocktail at the British Ambassador’s Residence in Luxembourg-Ville.

The event attracted around 100 guests, including the Joanne Olivier, British Ambassador to Luxembourg, as well as representatives of the local business and diplomatic communities. Among those present were British Ladies Club of Luxembourg Chair, Amy Grech, alongside BCC members and invited guests.

In his opening remarks, Andrew Notter, BCC Chairman, reflected on the start of the new year and expressed his hope that members were returning refreshed and motivated for 2026, before encouraging attendees to take full advantage of the evening’s networking opportunities.

Looking back on 2025, he highlighted what he described as a particularly successful year for the British Chamber, noting that it organised around 30 events and recorded its strongest membership growth to date. He added that the chamber aims to build on this momentum in 2026 with an expanded programme of activities, encouraging members to remain engaged throughout the year. Andrew Notter also reflected on the broader international context, pointing to a period marked by both uncertainty and opportunity, and stressed the importance of Luxembourg’s stability and the strong UK-Luxembourg relationship in fostering confidence and resilience amid ongoing geopolitical and economic changes.

Addressing the guests, Joanne Olivier highlighted the atmosphere of the evening, saying there was “always a lot of energy in the room” at British Chamber of Commerce events and describing it as “a massive pleasure” to host the New Year reception at the residence. She also referred to the long-standing tradition of the event, noting that the reception has been held there for around fifteen years and welcoming both familiar faces and newcomers.

She went on to outline the embassy’s outlook for the year ahead, saying it was looking forward to a busy period of commercial and financial engagement in 2026. The ambassador added that the embassy intends to remain closely engaged with the business community, encouraging continued collaboration and dialogue throughout the year.

The evening also included brief remarks from event sponsors, who welcomed attendees and wished members a successful start to 2026.

The event then continued with a networking reception, accompanied by finger food and drinks.
