On the evening of Thursday 25 September 2025, the Mierscher Theater in Mersch hosted the 2025 edition of the Luxembourg Theatre Awards (Lëtzebuerger Bünepräisser).

The biennial awards ceremony, held under the patronage of Luxembourg’s Ministry of Culture and in collaboration with the Theater Federatioun (Luxembourg Theatre Federation), was hosted by actress Anne Klein and welcomed around 200 attendees, including Luxembourg Minister for Culture, Eric Thill, and Mayor of Mersch, Michel Malherbe.

For the first time the Lëtzebuerger Bünepräisser brought together several existing awards under one name: the Theaterpräisser (established in 2021); the Kanner- a Jugendtheaterpräis (2023); and the Lëtzebuerger Danzpräis (2011). 

Prizes were awarded in eight categories: Luxembourg Dance Prize; Luxembourg Theatre Prize; Best Production; Best Children’s and Youth Production; On Stage – Performance; On Stage – Text, Concept and Direction; Behind the Scenes; and Emerging Talent.

The official winners:

⁃ Luxembourg Dance Prize (Lëtzebuerger Danzpräis): Christiane Eiffes, dance teacher at the Conservatoire of the City of Luxembourg. This prize carries an award of €10,000;

⁃ Luxembourg Theatre Prize (Lëtzebuerger Theaterpräis): Frank Hoffmann, theatre director and stage director. This prize carries an award of €10,000;

⁃ Best Production (Bescht Produktioun): Les Glaces by Rebecca Déraspe, directed by Sophie Langevin;

⁃ Best Children’s and Youth Production (Bescht Kanner- a Jugendproduktioun): D‘Julie an den Aprikosejong, directed by Laetitia Lang. This prize carries an award of €4,500;

⁃ On Stage – Performance (Op der Bün - Performance): Céline Camara, for her performance in Prima Facie. This prize carries an award of €4,500;

⁃ On Stage – Text, Concept and Direction (Op der Bün – Text, Konzept a Regie): William Cardoso, for his choreography of Baby. This prize carries an award of €4,500;

⁃ Behind the Scenes (Hannert der Bün): Christian Klein, for “his talent, his dedication to theatre and his wealth of ideas”. This prize carries an award of €4,500;

⁃ Emerging Talent (Nowuesstalent): Antoine Pohu, for his two texts: Spring Awakenings and Pandora. This prize carries an award of €3,500.

Members of the 2025 Jury:

• Mirka Costanzi – theatre educator;

• Jérôme Konen – Director, Kinneksbond – Centre culturel Mamer;

• Anne-Marie Reuter – teacher, author and publisher;

• Joël Seiller – hair and make-up artist;

• Isabel Spigarelli – journalist and theatre critic;

• Lis Trausch – representative of the theatre audience groups of Luxembourg City and Escher Theater;

• Andreas Wagner – dramaturge and lecturer.

Pablo Chimienti from Theater Federatioun served as jury secretary.

The event was followed by a reception in the theatre foyer where refreshments were served and attendees could meet with the members of the jury and the prize winners.

Update: This article was edited to relfect that the Lëtzebuerger Bünepräisser takes place every two years and is not an annual event.
