On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 April 2025, Luxexpo The Box in Luxembourg-Kirchberg hosted the 113th edition of the International Dog Show, organised by the Fédération Cynologique Luxembourgeoise Asbl (FCL).
The two-day event was expected to bring together about 3,000 dogs (1,500 per day) to take part in various competitions, including the CACIB (Certificat d'Aptitude au Championnat International de Beauté), the CACL (Certificat d’Aptitude au Champion de Luxembourg) and the Crufts Qualification 2026, as well as the Youth Championships (Champion des Jeunes Luxembourg) and the Veteran Championships (Champion des Vétérans Luxembourg).
The CACIB is an international dog show certification recognised by the World Canine Organisation (Fédération Cynologique Internationale - FCI). As reported by FCL, it assesses a dog's conformation, movement and overall appearance. The certification is granted to dogs that meet the high standards set by the FCI. By earning the CACIB, a dog may earn the title of International Champion, under certain conditions. This year's CACIB show was also a Crufts qualification - Crufts being the annual international dog show organised by The Kennel Club in the United Kingdom. The next edition will take place at the NEC in Birmingham from 5 to 8 March 2026.
The CACL is a dog show competition held in Luxembourg. It is open to all breeds and aims to determine which dogs are the best representatives of their breed in terms of appearance, temperament and obedience. They are judged on factors such as conformation to breed standards, movement and overall health. The best performers in each category receive the CACL.
The Youth Championships in Luxembourg allow young dogs to demonstrate their skills and compete for the title of Youth Champion.
The Veteran Championships celebrate the achievements of older dogs.
