The Grand Ducal Police has reported an arrest following an attempted burglary in Troisvierges, appealed for victims of a parking scam in Ingeldorf to come forward and reiterated a warning about fraudulent messages sent in the name of the police.
Police said an attempted burglary took place on the night of Thursday 2 to Friday 3 July 2026 at a flat in Rue des Prés in Troisvierges. According to initial information, the suspect attempted to enter the property through a window but fled after being surprised by the resident. Police located the suspect shortly afterwards during a search and, on the instructions of the Public Prosecutor's Office, arrested the suspected burglar and brought him before an investigating judge.
Police are also appealing for witnesses after several motorists fell victim to a scam while using the Laduno car park in Ingeldorf (Erpeldange-sur-Sûre) during the Foire Agricole on Saturday 4 July 2026. According to initial findings, two individuals posing as parking attendants demanded parking fees despite not being authorised to do so. Anyone who paid money under these circumstances is asked to contact the Diekirch/Vianden Police Station via tel: 244-701000 or by email at police.diekirchvianden@police.etat.lu.
In addition, police have renewed their warning about fraudulent emails and letters falsely claiming to come from the Grand Ducal Police or, in some cases, foreign police authorities. The messages falsely state that criminal proceedings have been initiated against the recipient. Police stressed that these communications are fraudulent and do not reflect official police procedures.
Members of the public are advised not to respond to such messages, not to click on links or open attachments and never to provide personal, banking or login information. Anyone unsure whether a communication is genuine should contact the police directly, while victims of such scams are encouraged to report the incident to the police as soon as possible.
