On Wednesday 22 April 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that they carried out alcohol impairment checks in Garnich and Clemency on Tuesday 21 April.

The checks were undertaken at the request of the State Prosecutor, as provided for by Article 12, paragraph 3, subparagraph 8 of the amended law of 14 February 1955 on the regulation of traffic on all public roads.

On Tuesday 21 April checks were performed on Rue des Trois Cantons in Garnich between the hours of 15:30 and 17:00, and on Rue de Bascharage in Clemency between the hours of 18:30 and 20:00.

A total of 595 motorists were subjected to a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indication.

In four cases, the test proved positive and two reports were drawn up, while in the other two cases, fixed penalty notices were issued.

Six offences relating to vehicle documents were recorded, including the expiry of the roadworthiness test in four cases. In the other two cases, either the driver was unable to produce a valid registration certificate or was driving with an expired tax disc.

Moreover, two drivers were unable to present a valid driving licence, and another, whose licence had previously been withdrawn, had their vehicle seized and a report drawn up against them.

No driving licences were withdrawn during the checks.
