On Thursday 4 July 2024, the College of the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Luxembourg inaugurated the new playground located near Rue Lou Koster in Luxembourg-Belair.

The new playground is at the heart of the specific development plan (Plan d'aménagement particulier – PAP) “Val Sainte Croix”. Residents of the district were invited to the occasion.

With a surface area of approximately 1,645 m² and fully enclosed, the playground features an area dedicated to toddlers and children up to three years old, including a climbing game with a small cabin, a slide and baby swings. There is also an area for older children with several swings, a climbing game with suspension bridges, and two slides. A bird's nest swing, a carousel and a slackline complete the range of games. The sand placed around the equipment serves both as a fun element for children and as a cushion in the event of a jump or fall.

Additionally, several benches and picnic tables invite visitors to spend relaxing moments in a green setting.

As with other playgrounds in the city, the playground on Rue Lou Koster complies with current safety standards and is regularly inspected by Luxcontrol SA, which rewards the overall safety and proper functioning of playgrounds with the “Sécher Spillplaz” (safe playground) label.

Aware of the importance of playgrounds for the quality of life and development of children, the City aims to offer spaces adapted to the needs of different age groups, from toddlers to young children and adolescents. In total, the City of Luxembourg has 212 play areas – including public playgrounds, multi-sports grounds, ball courts, pétanque tracks and skate tracks, spread across the different districts.
