On Monday 15 November 2021, the Luxembourg Army celebrated its patronal feast of Saint Martin at the military centre in Diekirch, in the presence of Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, François Bausch.
During his speech, Minister Bausch gave a general overview of the many ongoing activities within the Army, thanking all the personnel for their commitment. He also stressed the importance of multilateralism in international relations and emphasised that the missions of the Army within the framework of the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) were essential to guarantee security in the world, as well as in Luxembourg.
As part of Monday's ceremony, General Steve Thull, Luxembourg's Chief of Defence, and Adjutant-Major Paul Reiser, Army Warrant Officer, presented three non-commissioned officers with a dagger of honour as a reward for excellent performance during their respective initial training cycles.
There was also a ceremony for the handover of duty of Army warrant officers. In the presence of General Steve Thull, Warrant Officer Steve Ries took over from Adjutant-Major Paul Reiser, Warrant Officer, who is retiring.
