Luxembourg's European Parliament Liaison Office (EPLO) and the European Commission Representation in Luxembourg will move into their new premises in the Konrad Adenauer building in Luxembourg-Kirchberg next month.
Located since 2005 at House of Europe (Maison de l'Union européenne) at 7 Rue du Marché-aux-Herbes in Luxembourg-ville, the EPLO and Commission Representation are moving on 1 July 2021 to the European Parliament's Konrad Adenauer building in Luxembourg-Kirchberg. The current rental agreement is set to expire on 30 June 2021.
With the aim of ensuring the continuation of the synergies created in the cooperation between the two institutions, including their citizens' outreach, the European Commission accepted the European Parliament's invitation to join them in the latter's new premises in Kirchberg.
The move is expected to improve joint activities in the service of citizens with more suitable conference rooms and cutting-edge technology as well as (by 2024) the “Experience Europe” interactive installation, all of which are accessible to the public, including people with reduced mobility.
Thanks to the rigorous environmental and energy efficiency standards taken into account from the design phase of the Konrad Adenauer building, the move will help make the institutions greener, as will having the “Europaparlament - European Parliament” tram stop in front of the building's entrance.
The relocation of the European Commission Representation will be accompanied by an update of its website, accessible from 1 July at ec.europa.eu/luxembourg.
