In 2019, the Grand Ducal Police responded to 849 incidents of domestic violence in Luxembourg - an increase of 110 cases compared to 2018.

Luxembourg's Minister for Equality between Women and Men, Taina Bofferding, yesterday presented the key figures from the 2019 report on domestic violence before the Chamber of Deputies.

According to the report, police responded to 849 such incidents last year. 64% of victims were female and 36% were male; 68% of perpetrators were male while 31% were female.

Meanwhile, the public prosecutor's office at the Luxembourg and Diekirch district courts received 1,692 domestic violence cases in 2019. 260 cases were dismissed, compared to 230 in 2018.
