ARA City Radio has announced that its newsreader Mark Weedon passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The station reported yesterday that Mark Weedon had been battling leukaemia since being diagnosed in November 2019.

An Oxford University language graduate who moved to London in the late 1980s, Mark Weedon first had a successful career in the financial industry. In the mid 2000s when he moved to Luxembourg to join his wife, he decided to pursue his passion of music and current affairs by joining ARA City Radio.

Mark Weedon was a Director of City Radio Productions and a key member of the team, in particular the Breakfast show, where his witty and often insightful take on life entertained listeners for over twelve years.

The Ara City Radio team have expressed their heartbreak at this loss and are campaigning for everyone aged 18 to 40 and in good health to register as a stem cell donor to help others battling leukaemia.
