Ambassador Georges Friden, Luxembourg's Permanent Representative to the EU, submitted Luxembourg’s formal bid to host the European Banking Authority (EBA).
Luxembourg is offering the agency state-of-the art office space, free of rent. The building will be ideally located, at a few minutes’ drive from the city centre, European institutions and the international airport. During the construction phase, a dedicated team will be in close contact with EBA staff to make sure that all of their specific needs are met.
Pierre Gramegna, Minister of Finance, stated “Luxembourg offers a high degree of political and financial stability, as illustrated by its AAA rating and its continuous compliance with the Stability and Growth Pact. It is also one of three European capitals and host to judicial and financial institutions of the Union since 1965. Luxembourg is the natural choice to host the EBA, not only to ensure complete business continuity, but also to allow the agency to pursue a harmonious development and its staff to thrive in a multilingual and multicultural environment.”
