The Luxembourg food safety authorities were informed of the recall of Bosto basmati rice due to an aflatoxin B1 content exceeding the legal limit.
At present, it is known that the product is distributed in Luxembourg at the Delhaize and Colruyt stores, but distribution by other stores cannot be excluded.
The products were withdrawn from the sale by the distributors mentioned, but some had been sold to consumers.
Aflatoxins are toxins produced by certain species of Aspergillus mould that develop when temperature and humidity are high. Aflatoxins are considered genotoxic and carcinogenic by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and can be dangerous with much and repeated consumption.
The product in question comes in 4x125g packs and has an end date of 12/2019 and a lot number of 4546.The Luxembourg food safety authorities have urged the public not to consume the product.
No other product is concerned.
