On Monday afternoon, a young boy was hit by a bus in Martelange / Rombach as he was crossing a pedestrian crossing with his bicycle.
The accident happened at around 15:00 on the intersection of the route d'Arlon (N4) and the route de Bigonville. A bus was travelling from Bastogne and turned onto the route de Bigonville when it collided with the boy and his bicycle, the latter which ended up under the bus.
Accordign to the Grand Ducal Police, initial investigations showed that the light was green for pedestrians at the time of the accident.
The boy was transported to hospital by rescue helicopter where his condition is described a serious; the Belgian traffic police helped by redirecting traffic following the accident. The public prosecutor has ordered a forensic examination of the scene of the accident.
