On Thursday evening, a police officer on guard duty at the Grand Ducal Palace in Colmar-Berg was needed to deter five teenagers from entering the palce grounds to catch a Pokémon monster.
Wheter it was a virtual Pikachu, Drowzee or Magnemite is irrelevant; the teenagers tried to explain the the uniformed officer that the monster was just a few metres inside the gate but out of reach unless they could gain access. He explained that the chateau is private property and they were denied access.
This is just one instance of the viral effect created by the recent launch of the new Pokémon Go game that can be played on mobile devices.
Another Pokémon monster hunt went wrong in Esch-sur-Alzette in the early hours of the morning; a traffic accident was reported on the rue de Mondercange shortly before 01:30 involving one car hitting the side of two parked cars. The driver and passenger were uninjured.
The Grand Ducal Police has issued a warning that such games should not be played while driving and should not involve private property.
