The Luxembourg police have reported that a motorist was given a verbal warning for leaving a dog in a parked car for two hours on Friday.
The incident took place at the Industrial Zone in Livange on a day when outside temperatures were above 30C.
A passerby noticed that a dog was trapped in a vehicle and brought it to the attention of another woman nearby. Although the windows were open slightly, the ambient temperature ensured that the heat in the vehicle was still on the rise. After half an hour they notified the police as they had failed to contact the vehicle's owner.
Upon arrival, the police tried to locate the owner and succeeded after about another half hour. By this stage the dog had been in the car for two hours. The owner was unapologetic and claimed that the dog was not too hot; the police warned the dog owner about the risks of leaving a dog in a car.
