The Maison des Jeunes in Dudelange organised a collection of hair styling products yesterday, which culminated in 32 boxes of donated items.
The Maison distributed flyers announcing their action, receiving multiple boxes of shampoos, conditioners and hair sprays.
"Housing for disadvantaged people is often in a precarious state and/or insanitary," explained Vice-Principal in charge of the Stëmm vun der Strooss association, Claude Consdorf. "Laundry and shower facilities are rare, and when they do exist they are communal. It is for this reason therefore that Stëmm vun der Stross has created a hairdressing service, from volunteer hairdressers, to offer free hair cuts and treatments to those received at the meeting place located at 7, Rue de la Fonderie in Hollerich."
Claude Consdorf went on to warmly thank the associations who had participated in the action: Carole Line, Paolo Machado, Styling Crew by Christian Materazzi, My Cut and Pezzoli Leslie.
The event followed Luxair's donation of almost 200 kilos of clothing to the disadvantaged people under the care of Stëmm vun der Strooss, which was collected over a three week period at the company.
