Luxembourg-based artist Victor Tricar has announced his latest street art project “Unprecedented”, which involves the artistic transformation of the carpark at the École de Leudelange.
The 44-year-old artist-painter, who is a member of the Hariko artistic collective in Esch-sur-Alzette and part of the cultural committee in Leudelange, has revealed that the project involves the painting of all 27 support pillars within the car park, along with a 10m mural located in a passageway of the building.
According to the artist, each pillar features a unique design drawing inspiration from folk art worldwide, blended with his own signature style.
Mr Tricar said his aim is to “bring colourful breaths of fresh air and art into the most stifling places in our large cities” and described the practice as "positive urbanism”. He noted that the local community and the children at the school have reacted positively to the work.
His ambition is to transform car parks, both public and private, across Luxembourg, with the municipality of Leudelange being the first to offer him the opportunity. He anticipates the project will be completed in the coming weeks.
Please note that the car park at the École de Leudelange is not open to visitors from the public.
