Rotondes has announced the third edition of its Multiplica digital art festival in Luxembourg.

Through Multiplica, Rotondes is offering a cycle of events dedicated to digital technologies and their applications in the artistic field and in society. During its first two editions in 2017 and 2019, the festival's aim was to introduce the public to artistic approaches that harness the potential of digital technology and generate captivating works. For this new edition, Multiplica is becoming more than a showcase and intends to encourage the debate on technologies and the digitalisation of society.

This year, the festival will be spread over four weekends, from February to December. “Not being in the heat of the moment of a short, one-weekend festival opens up new possibilities for developing the chosen themes,” explained event coordinator Yves Conrardy. “We will be able to go further in thinking about changes in societal behavior linked to technologies, exclusion from the digital sphere due to age, appearance and gender, and the impact of technologies on the environment".

The first meeting is scheduled for 26 to 28 February 2021. During this weekend, the public will have the chance to question social media and surveillance issues with two installations by Belgian artist Dries Depoorter. There will also be a unique sensory experience during an audiovisual concert by Japanese artist Ryoichi Kurokawa. German producer Frieder Nagel will present his latest EP "The Arrival", in a new form, with visual creations by French artist Maotik.

The 2021 edition of Multiplica is intended above all to be more committed than in the past. The cycle of events aims to go beyond the mere fascination with digital works and encourage the public to take a critical look at technology.
