The National Archives of Luxembourg have reported that in order to facilitate access to their original historical sources, over six thousand photos have been digitised and uploaded to their website.
The 6,500 images represent a portrait of the nature, tourism and economy of the Grand Duchy from 1950 to 1970, thereby, constituting a significant and informative visual source of history.
The collection is derived from the Governmental Service of economic and touristic expansion, and are comprised of the work of Luxembourgish photographers such as Henri Gehlen, Edouard Kutter, Gusty Muller, Jean Proess, Erny Schmit, Léon Schock, Nic Sibenaler, Marcel Werner, J.P. Wiwinius and Marcel Schroeder. The photographic work of the latter is also currently on display in the 'Luxembourg - A History of Kirchberg, Gateway to Europe- exhibition at Cercle Cité.
These unique images, as well as other materials, are already freely available for viewing and downloading on the website www.anlux.lu
