Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Foreign Trade Affairs, Xavier Bettel, is currently participating in the World Economic Forum (WEF), being held in Davos, Switzerland, between 20 - 24 January 2025.

The 2025 edition of the WEF, organised under the theme "Collaboration for the Intelligent Age," aims to promote international cooperation on global issues. Key topics include energy transition, economic inclusivity, business digitalisation and the allocation of global resources. Discussions also focus on combating climate change, managing natural resources, advancing digital solutions for the global economy and redefining international supply chains in the post-COVID-19 era. Additional areas of focus include the economic and trade implications of current geopolitical tensions, the development of artificial intelligence and the regulation of digital markets.

In this context, Minister Bettel engaged with numerous political and economic leaders, including UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, Polish President Andrzej Duda, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Flemish Government Minister-President Matthias Diependaele, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Syhiba and Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. He also met with representatives from leading businesses, including Helsing, Axa, Coinbase, Uber, PayPal, Cisco, TikTok, Bloomberg and Goldman Sachs, the Luxembourg government stated. 

According to Minister Bettel: "In the face of today's geopolitical, commercial, and economic tensions, regular dialogue and exchanges with representatives of the economic world and civil society are of paramount importance. The WEF in Davos offers a platform for critical discussions on the many current and future challenges the world must address, which require shared solutions.

The minister will continue his bilateral meetings on Wednesday 22 January 2025.
