Luxembourg's Ministry of State has reported that Luc Frieden, who was sworn in as Prime Minister earlier this month, travelled to France on Tuesday 28 November 2023 for his first working visit abroad.

At the invitation of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, Prime Minister Frieden went to Paris to discuss the future of Europe. Also present were his counterparts from the Netherlands, Estonia, Portugal and France. The discussions focused on the elements which will be part of the future strategic agenda of the European Union.

Luxembourg's Prime Minister was also received at the Élysée Palace by French President Emmanuel Macron. According to the Ministry of State, this bilateral meeting made it possible to underline the close bond which unites Luxembourg and France.

Moreover, Prime Minister Luc Frieden met with French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, also in the presence of Laurence Boone, Secretary of State for Europe. They discussed major bilateral issues, highlighting, for example, the importance of good cooperation on security, mobility and teleworking. The discussions also focused on European news, including in particular the economic outlook, the energy transition and the European budget.
