For the seventh time, Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel participated in the World Economic Forum (#WEF22) in Davos, Switzerland.
The theme of this year's forum was "History at a Turning Point: Government Policies and Business Strategies".
This trip allowed the Prime Minister to meet many political and economic decision-makers, as well as representatives of civil society and to discuss current political, economic and social issues.
Prime Minister Xavier Bettel had about 20 bilateral meetings, apart from the many informal exchanges behind the scenes at Davos. He met with Natalia Gavrilita, Prime Minister of Moldova, and Dritan Abazovic, Prime Minister of Montenegro, to discuss in particular the European aspirations of these two countries. A meeting with the President of Colombia, Ivan Duque Marquez, was also on the agenda.
Moreover, Luxembourg's Prime Minister met with representatives of Cisco, Meta, Deutsche Bank, PayPal, Qualcomm, ArcelorMittal, UIT, UBS, ECB, Google, Barclays Bank, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Swiss Re, ICRC and Temasek. The focus of the discussions was on international security and stability in all their aspects, including geopolitics, finance and food. Sustainable development and the fight against global warming, as well as advances in new and digital technologies, were also topics of prime importance in the respective exchanges.
During a working breakfast attended by Prime Minister Xavier Bettel as part of #WEF22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the forum participants and reiterated the need for firm European unity. Luxembourg's Prime Minister also participated in a lunch on a rapid return to peace, as well as a dinner on the global role of Europe.
