On the second day of his working visit to Kosovo, on Tuesday 5 April 2022, Luxembourg's Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, Franz Fayot, visited various projects supported by Luxembourg's development cooperation programme.
In the presence of Kosovo's Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Arbërie Nagavci, and the Mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, Luxembourg's Economy Minister first visited the construction site of the future Centre of Competence (CoC) for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in Pristina. This is a project co-financed by Luxembourg as part of support for the reform of vocational education and training in Kosovo. The CoC will aim to offer its students, in particular young jobseekers, quality training geared to the labour market, in order to contribute to the dynamics of innovation, the spirit of enterprise and the digital economic growth of Kosovo.
Minister Fayot then went to Ferizaj, the third largest city in Kosovo, where he visited another skills centre as well as, accompanied by Kosovo's Minister of Health, Dr Rifat Latifi, a project set up jointly by UNICEF and Luxembourg's development cooperation programme. This is a universal progressive home visiting project, which is operational in 27 municipalities and is one of the flagship projects supported by the Luxembourg Government in the health sector in Kosovo. This programme provides essential support to children and families living in rural areas by linking them to health, education and social services in their community-
On Tuesday afternoon, Minister Fayot visited the projects and beneficiaries of Luxembourg non-governmental development organisations (NGDOs) Caritas Luxembourg and Fondation Kosovo-Luxembourg in the municipalities of Klokot and Viti.
