On Wednesday 24 June 2026, Luxembourg’s Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity reported on the attendance of Minister for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Serge Wilmes, at the London Climate Action Week, a major international event dedicated to climate action and the mobilisation of public and private stakeholders.
The ministry said that following the success of the Luxembourg International Climate Finance Days, Minister Wilmes participated in the event on Wednesday 24 June, with his participation forming part of Luxembourg's commitment to strengthening international cooperation on climate finance and promoting practical solutions to achieve the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
According to the ministry, during his visit to London Minister Wilmes took part in several high-level discussions with key stakeholders in climate finance and sustainable development.
In particular, he attended a meeting of the European Climate Ambassadors Network, highlighting the role of European climate ambassador networks in diplomatic preparations for COP31.
The minister also participated in a working lunch with Sarakao-Yao, Director of the External Affairs Department of the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The discussions focused on opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Luxembourg and the GCF, as well as ways to accelerate climate finance for developing countries.
In addition, he held a series of meetings with representatives from the American philanthropic sector and international fund managers, exploring potential synergies between public and philanthropic actors in supporting the global ecological transition.
Minister Wilmes said: "Luxembourg will continue to play a leading role in mobilising climate finance by fostering international partnerships and supporting practical initiatives on the ground.”
The ministry said that the visit demonstrated Luxembourg's determination to strengthen its position as a leading international centre for sustainable finance and to contribute actively to global efforts to combat climate change.
