Traditional Luxembourgish and Emirati cuisine are on the menu for the Luxembourg restaurant at the 2020 Dubai World Expo, taking place from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Luxembourg's gastronomic concept for the Expo 2020 in Dubai was unveiled at a press conference on Thursday; the concept has been developed by the École d'hôtellerie et de tourisme du Luxembourg (EHTL) in collaboration with representatives of Horesca, Euro-Toques, the Vatel-Club, the Lycée technique de Bonnevoie (LTB) and the Wine Institute (Institut viti-vinicole).

The "Schengen Lounge" restaurant will have pride of place on the ground floor of the Luxembourg pavilion, with an open kitchen allowing visitors to see the cooks in action. There will also be a take away corner called "Luxembourg on a plate" with snacks for visitors in a hurry. The gastronomic concept developed by the EHTL provides that the restaurant will not only offer traditional Luxembourgish cuisine, but also a cuisine with different international influences, such as cuisine from the UAE, thus reflecting Luxembourg and its cultural diversity.

With regard to catering and visitor supervision services for the pavilion, the EHTL will allow its students to work in the pavilion, either in the kitchen or in the service and visitor reception areas. These tasks will complement the resources made available by a local provider. A total of 36 students will be able to put into practice their knowledge gained during their training at the EHTL. Supervising the students on site will be three EHTL teachers, accompanied by KimKevin De Dood, a 28-year-old Michelin-starred chef from Luxembourg. De Dood is a former EHTL student who works as head chef at the Saint Pierre Kuala Lumpur restaurant in Malaysia.
