Luxembourg's Minister for Cooperation and Humanitarian Action, Romain Schneider, today reported that he will attend Expo Milano 2015 on 22 July 2015, to participate in an event organised under the Luxembourg Presidency in collaboration with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
MSF Luxembourg, which yesterday published its 2014 annual report, will present a photographic exhibition and video projections depicting malnutrition in slums. A round-table will also be organised with the support of the Directorate of Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Action, to discuss specific issues related to therapeutic nutritional foods in the Kamrangirchar slum of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The Luxembourg delegation will visit the pavilions of Italy, which this year will act as the host country to EXPO, as well as of the European Union and partner countrys of the Luxembourg Cooperation, who will be grouped thematically into topics such as 'Rice - Abundance and Security', 'Agriculture and Nutrition in Arid Regions' and 'Coffee - The Engine of Ideas'.
Expo 2015 will host over 130 countries, companies and international and civil societies from 1 May to 31 October 2015, centering around the theme of 'Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life'. The objective is to demonstrate the potential and necessity of ensuring healthy ad sufficient food for everyone, whilst maintaining respect for the environment and the planet. The organisers of EXpo 2015 is expecting around 20 million visitors.
