At around 02:00 in the morning of Sunday 6 December 2015, a 57-year-old man was killed in a road traffic accident after a deer ran out in front of his vehicle on the N12 between Weidingen and Wiltz.
The man in question was sat in the passenger seat of the car with his daughter. Other motorists who were behind the vehicle at the point of collision got out of their cars, when a vehicle arrived travelling in the opposite direction and collided with the 57 year-old who was thrown by the impact. The man, a Portuguese national, sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.
The young driver involved in the collision was reported to have not been under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and it seemed the accident was caused by the oncoming driver being blinded by the full beam lights of the parked cars.
