East Meets West, Strings Attached

This dynamic and quintessentially Turkish programme will delight with an evening of music by one of the most famous and pioneering composers of Turkish classical music, featuring Alnar’s famous concerto for Kanun and String Quartet.

Arzu Kırtıl lives in Luxembourg and has recently acquired joint nationality. The other musicians involved are Tahir Aydoğdu, Turkey's celebrated Kanun player (the Kanun or Quanun is a traditional and ancient Turkish stringed instrument with a distinctive, beautiful sound); Aykut Dursen, the solo bass player from Flemish Opera House; and Luxembourg's Kreisler Quartet, which comprises 4 string players from the Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg -  Haoxing Liang (the Leader of the OPL), and Silja Geirhardsdottir, violins, Jean Marc Apap, viola and Niall Brown, violoncello.  It is a real coming together of talents!

This exciting first time collaboration will bring together the considerable talent of musicians at the top of their instrumental fields. All of whom have attracted plaudits, spanned continents and delighted audiences with their performances. This concert exemplifies world class musicianship and multi culturalism.
