Details: The the English-speaking Section at 'Fit by Nature' is organising an event on Saturday 2 February from 10:00 - 15:00 in Junglinster to restore a Dry Grassland Site.

Hedges, dry grasslands and orchards around Junglinster; and Demonstration on pruning heirloom fruit trees.

What better way to get fit than by working for the benefit of nature and the environment!   Meeting point: car park near the intersection of route de Luxembourg and rue de la Gare, which is also near the main bus station in Junglinster. If you would like to take the bus, the closest bus stop is: Junglinster, Op der Gare. If you would like a ride / lift from Luxembourg city or elsewhere, please let the organisaers know and they will try to arrange car-pooling.

Fit By Nature needs 20 people to help restore a dry grassland site which is currently being invaded by shrubs and trees, and to maintain an orchard by pruning the fruit trees. Help is needed to preserve one of the most diverse habitats in Luxembourg, with countless species of orchids, butterflies and threatened bird species.

Families with children of 11 years or older are welcome. As there will be fires at the site, parents are asked to supervise their children. Dogs are also welcome. As other sections will also be involved, those attending will organise themselves based on language and what they would like to do.

An explanation of the importance of the site, the dry grasslands project, and the site for flora and fauna will be given in the morning. There will be a practical demonstration of how best to prune heirloom fruit trees in English. The number of places for this demonstration is limited so if this is of interest, please register.

Tools and food will be provided on site. If you would prefer a vegetarian food option, please let the organisers know.   What to wear: hiking boots or shoes with a good grip, old clothes that you do not mind getting smoky from the fire, and preferably clothes that are not polyester as the ash that rises in the air might still be alight and settle on your clothes.

What to bring: gloves, if you have them; drinking water and a hot drink, if you wish, and a change of clothes.   If you would like to donate to the "dry grasslands" project and/or "orchards" project, please select "Projet Pelouses sèches" or "Projet Vergers" under "Choix du projet" on the web site: http://naturanemwelt.lu/natur-an-emwelt_Nouvelles.78-2-0.html.

Please register the number of adults and children of your family coming to the event so that they can organise the logistics and an appropriate amount of food.   When you register for the event, you will receive an email from eventbrite asking you to print the ticket for the event. You do not need a printed ticket; the organisers do, however, need your online registration so that they know how many people are coming to organise equipment, tools and food.
