100-Strong Luxembourg Chamber Choir to Celebrate New Symphonic Formation

Luxembourg's Chamber Choir - the Choer de Chambre de Luxembourg (CCL) - will present itself in its new, symphonic formation, on Saturday 9 December 2017 at the Philharmonie in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

The choir will perform Orff’s “Carmina Burana” and Tchaikovsky’s “The Year 1812” with more than 100 singers, among them 25 children from the choir’s “Académie pour Jeunes Voix”. It will be accompanied by ensembles from the renowned Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg and the Musique Militaire Grand-Ducale as well as three internationally renowned soloists.

After three seasons, through a series of unpublished concerts, the Luxembourg Chamber Choir has built a great reputation among the ensembles of Luxembourg and the Greater Region. It has also continued to grow and expand gradually, thus addressing the major works of the vocal-symphonic repertoire.

To mark its new symphonic formation, the Luxembourg Chamber Choir will be performing Carmina Burana, a monumental work that will bring together on stage 200 singers and musicians, plus Tchaikovsky's imposing opening "The Year 1812". The choir will present on stage its 80 adult singers and 25 children from the Academy for Young Voices, children's choir that the CCL founded two years ago.

Alongside the choir will be a string ensemble of the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra, a set of Grand Ducal Military Music and three renowned soloists, all under the baton of its musical and artistic director, Antonio Grosu.
