Details: The Luxembourg Food Academy (LFA) has launched a Skills Labs initiative, a form of cooking workshops.
With the chefs of the Lycée Technique de Bonnevoie, each skills lab will focus on a specific base (such as vegetables, fish, desserts) and teach people knife skills and basic techniques that will come in handy for many recipes.
The first vegetable skills lab will take place on Thursday 15 October, followed by 8 more dates throughout the year. People can sign up for one or numerous of the classes (so no need to commit for a course over several weeks).
The first 4 dates before the end of the year have now been announced:
- Thursday 15 October: Vegetables, by Carlo Sauber
- Thursday 22 October: Fish, by Roberto Beltramini
- Tuesday 17 November: Desserts, by Ed Ewert
- Tuesday 24 November: Sauces, by Lorenzo Mastropietro
2016 will see other courses, as follows:
- Tuesday 19 January: Finger Food
- Tuesday 26 January: Epaule d’agneau et couronne
- Thursday 25 February: Stuffing and pies
- Tuesday 8 March: Cutting poultry
- Thursday 24 March: Grilling meat, fish, crustaceans and vegetables
All courses take place between 17:45 and 20:45 at the Lycée Technique de Bonnevoie (LTB) (119 rue du cimetière, L-1338 Luxembourg – Bonnevoie). Each course will have a maximum 10-12 participants.
Classes are 'officially' in French, but the chefs are happy to do some explaining in English too.
