Details: The Fundamental Mono Drama Festival will take place in Luxembourg between 12 and 21 June 2015; On Sunday 14 June at 20:00, "Wot? No fish!" by and with Danny Braverman (in English) will be performed at the BANANNEFABRIK (12 rue du Puits, L-2355 Luxembourg-Bonnevoie).
"Wot? No fish!" is a brilliant show that has started in Lodon, toured Edinburgh and Australia and now being shown for the first time on the contintent (IN ENGLISH). Winner of the “Brian Way Award” for Best New Play 2013 and Lyn Gardner’s “Pick of the 2013 Fringe” in the Guardian, Wot? No Fish!!! astounded critics and audiences alike!
For more than 50 years, shoemaker Ab Solomons drew a picture on the weekly wage packet he gave to his wife, Celie. These images chronicle their family life in the East End of London, through ups and downs, with great wit and warmth and blistering honesty. They also give a historical account of a changing city – from the 1920s, through the Second World War, and on to the 1980s – vividly depicting shifting ambitions and attitudes.
Years later Danny Braverman discovered the lost art of his great-uncle Ab on more than 3000 wage packets in a shoebox – unleashing a family’s secrets and truths. Like a graphic novel brought to life, with the drawings projected on stage, Braverman shares the story with affection and humour. Wot? No Fish!!! is a portrait of a family and a tribute to the extraordinary stories of ordinary people.
