Details: The Centre des Arts Pluriels Ed Juncker (CAPe) in Ettelbruck has announced the opening of the Doris Drescher art exhibition “La Terre est um temple” for Tuesday 18 November at 19:00, as well as a performance of Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” opera on Wednesday 19 November at 20:00.
The exhibition, which will be open officially from Wednesday 19 November to Sunday 14 December from Monday to Saturdays 14:00 to 20:00 and is free of charge, will be a sample of Drescher’s work, with little, bright, colourful, exquisite paintings from abstract expressionism to representational works, demonstrating intimacy and obscure movement. In addition, Drescher will also showcase some large, almost immaterial paintings to conclude her exhibition.
Drescher has represented Luxembourg at the forty-ninth Venice Biennale in 2001 with the “Casa Mia” project, commissioned by Marie-Claude Beaud, and in 2012, she received the Pierre Werner Award and she has works in Luxembourg’s Mudam and Ville de Luxembourg History museums, as well as at the Gallerie Yvon Lambert in Paris, the Raymond Learsy collection in New York and the Flash Art Museum in Trevino, Italy.
The two-act, “drama giocoso” opera, “Don Giovanni”, created in 1787, depicts the last day of the titular aristocrat and his dissolute life. As he has killed the father of a mistress, he is a wanted man, but he is defiant and continues leading an unrepentant life.
The production will be by Luxembourg-based association Nei Stëmmen, which was founded in 2009 and has previously produced two operas, since 2012. It also promotes vocals and musical culture with the yearly International Summer Academy for Singers and Pianists.
