Details: As part of advocacy in the field of integration, the Consultative Commission for Integration and Communal Integration and Specific Needs Service of the City of Luxembourg, in collaboration with the Centre for the Study and training intercultural and social (Cefis), are organising a conference on the isee of the electoral participation of migrants on Thursday, 6 February 2014 at 19:15 at the Cercle Cité Auditorium (entrance via 3 rue Genistre), especially in view of the forthcoming European elections to be held on 25 May.
After an introduction by Lydie Polfer, Mayor of the City of Luxembourg, Patrick Goldschmidt, alderman responsible for integration, Sylvain Besch and Altay Manço of Cefis, Dirk Jacobs, Professor of Sociology at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and Christopher Schroeder, information Office of the European Parliament in Luxembourg, will try to answer - among others - the following questions: "What are the trends in migrants' participation in politics?", "What are the socio-demographic factors that explain the registration on the lists of voters?" "What are the practices carried out by local authorities and their partners to mobilise foreign residents to register on the list of voters?".
After the conference, the public will have the opportunity to speak and ask questions of the various stakeholders.
