Details:
The City of Luxembourg (VdL) and Nospelt will hold the 197th Edition of the Éimaischen craft market, taking place on Easter Monday 6 April 2026.
As every year, Easter festivities mark the arrival of Luxembourg’s most emblematic traditional event, Éimaischen, which dates back to at least 1827 and focuses on pottery and ceramics.
VdL noted that visitors will find the well-known “Péckvillercher”, small clay bird-shaped whistles sold exclusively at the Éimaischen. Their appearance changes each year, making them sought-after collector’s items, with enthusiasts gathering from early morning.
In Luxembourg City, the festival will take place from 08:00 to 17:00 in the historic streets of the old town. Musical entertainment will be held at Marché-aux-Poissons and on the forecourt of the National Museum of History and Art from 10:00 to 17:15.
In addition to the market stalls and music programme, a free face painting stand will be set up for children from 10:00 to 17:00 and a ceramics workshop by “Xanna Faia Ceramics” from 10:00 to 18:00 will be available at the intersection of Rue du Rost and Rue de la Boucherie.
Over a distance of nearly 600 metres, visitors can expect stalls offering items from ceramic, pottery and craft workshops, among others. The stands are distributed as follows: 22 Péckvillercher stand; 23 pottery and ceramics stands; 22 craft stands; one non-craft resale stand; five savoury food and drink stands; three sweet food and drink stands; one confectionery stand; two miscellaneous goods stands and two flea market stands.
On Monday 6 April 2026, public transport will operate according to the usual Sunday and public holiday timetable. More information is available at bus.vdl.lu.
The VdL informed residents and road users that the following traffic and parking measures will apply in connection with the Éimaischen:
-
Closure to all traffic of Rue de la Reine, Rue du Marché-aux-Herbes, Rue de l’Eau, Rue du Rost, Rue de la Boucherie, Rue Sigefroi and Marché-aux-Poissons on Monday 6 April 2026 from 04:30 to 20:00;
-
Parking prohibited on Rue Sigefroi and Rue du Rost from Sunday 5 April on 22:00 until Monday 6 April on 20:00.
The VdL Traffic Department will ensure that appropriate signage is in place.
As Nospelt is historically linked to pottery production and the origin of the "Péckvillercher”, the Éimaischen festivities also will take place in the village of Nospelt, in the municipality of Kehlen.
The programme will offer activities taking place throughout the Easter weekend. These will include concerts, entertainment, live demonstrations of pottery-making and family-friendly activities such as face painting, street performances and food stands. On Easter Monday, the traditional market will open at 10:00.
