Details:
The Upper Sûre Nature Park is organising its traditional water festival on Europe Day, Thursday 9 May 2024 from 10:00 to 17:00, as part of the water festival in Schleif (municipality of Winseler); entry is free.
The water element is the main theme of the Upper Sûre Nature Park. After all, the reservoir supplies around 80% of households in Luxembourg with drinking water.
A varied and free programme for the entire family will be offered from 10:00. In addition to an array of workshops, activities and information stands, water tastings and various guided tours will be on offer.
The water festival is an opportunity to have a look behind the scenes of the production of the Luxembourgish tea “Téi vum Séi”. The tea factory is located in Schleif, on the grounds where the water festival takes place. Guided tours of the tea factory will take place at 13:30 and 15:30. As the number of participants is limited, registration via info@naturpark-sure.lu is recommended.
Dr Rachel Reckinger will explain how it is possible for water to taste differently – water tastings with her will be available from 10:30 to 11:45.
In addition, tours of the Grëmmlechter Geessenhaff (goat farm) are also on offer. A tractor will bring water festival visitors to the farm, where the owners give guided tours. However, these visits are already fully booked.
A particular highlight is the mobile water treatment station of the Luxembourg army, which corresponds to this year's World Water Day slogan, "Leveraging Water for Peace".
The water festival takes place in Schleif, along the cycle path that connects Wiltz to Bastogne, making it easily accessible by bicycle. Some parking options are also available on-site, and parking attendants will guide visitors to the nearest parking lots.
