Details:

The Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg is organising an event for the 2024 Chinese New Year Celebrations, to ring in the Year of the Dragon, on Saturday 27 January 2024 from 13:30 to 17:30.

The Chinese New Year extravaganza in the heart of Luxembourg City is being organised in collaboration with the Union Commerciale de la Ville de Luxembourg (UCVL) and the Galeries Lafayette Luxembourg.

There will be a series of stands and fun activities, together with a spectacular Chinese dragon parade through the city centre from 14:30.

Chinese New Year Stands and Activities

A variety of stands demonstrating traditional Chinese arts and pastimes will be set up in front of Galeries Lafayette (Grand Rue). Participants can try their hands at Chinese calligraphy, Chinese lanterns making and a host of other activities.

Traditional Chinese New Year dumplings will also be served – a guaranteed treat for the taste buds.

Chinese Dragon Dance and Parade

The Year of the Dragon would not be complete without the traditional dragon parade. To put on a spectacular show, the Confucius Institute has joined forces with the Paris-based Association Française de Danse du Dragon et Lion Chinois (AFDDLC), which has brought together a talented team of Chinese martial arts specialists from across Europe.
Luxembourg City will be the first European capital to host the majestic Awakening of the Dragon parade in the streets of the city centre. The performance will start at 14:30.

All activities are free of charge.
