Details:

Two performances of the Ukrainian-language play (with English and French subtitles) Danse Macabre will take place at the Grand Théâtre in Luxembourg-Kirchberg on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 January 2024 from 20:00.

Director Vlad Troitskyi, founder of the Dakh Theater in Kyiv asks the question “How to stand up when war arises?”, in the play Danse macabre, which is set to return to Luxembourg theatres after a first reception in July 2022.

Through their testimonies and those of ordinary women, six Ukrainian actresses and singers give poignant stories that tell the intimate pain of living the daily conflict, the way in which it transformed their relationship with life and their family. By mixing their new musical compositions with these stories, as well as traditional Ukrainian melodies, the Dakh Daughters and director Vlad Troitskyi forcefully expose all the horror and violence of the conflict taking place in Ukraine.

Having taken refuge in Vire, where the Ukrainian theatre company has been hosted by the CDN of Normandy since March 2022, the artistic team conceived this show as an act of resistance, an “Art Front” performance to continue to bear witness here to this happening there.

The arrival of the Dakh Theater and the Dakh Daughters, whose important work contributes to the struggle of the Ukrainian people against Russian aggression, is carried out in collaboration with the CDN of NEST Thionville, which for its part welcomes the Dakh Daughters in the last creation of the director Lucie Berelowitsch, director of the Préau CDN in Normandie-Vire Les Géants de la Montagne, after Pirandello.

Tickets cost €20 or €8 for adults, and Kulturpass is welcome.
