According to ADEM and STATEC, unemployment remained stable in Luxembourg in February 2021, at 6.3%.

As of 28 February 2021, the number of available resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM was 19,476. Over one month, this represents a decrease of 406 people; over one year, this represents an increase of 2,824 people or 17%.

In February 2021, 2,115 residents registered with the ADEM, a decrease of 77 people or 3.5% compared to February 2020. The rise in unemployment was mainly explained by a decline in people going into employment rather than an increase in registrations.

The number of resident job seekers receiving full unemployment benefits increased by 1,811 or 21.8% over one year, reaching 10,128. The number of beneficiaries of unemployment measures stood at 4,176, which is slightly below the level observed in February 2020 (a decrease of 41 people or 1.0%).

During the month of February 2021, employers declared 3,014 vacancies to the ADEM, which corresponds to a decrease of 13.6% compared to February 2020. Compared to the previous three months, the number of declared vacancies increased in February 2021. As of 28 February 2021, the ADEM listed 7,397 vacancies in its database, an increase of approximately 800 positions compared to 31 January 2021. Over one year, however, the number of available positions fell by 14.8%

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, calculated by STATEC, stood at 6.3%. After a sudden increase in March and April 2020 and a decline from May onwards, the unemployment rate has been around 6.3% since last August.
