The number of available resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM employment agency in Luxembourg has increased by 32.2% over one year.

As of 30 June 2020, the number of available resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM was 19,876. Over one year, this represents an increase of 4,839 individuals, or 32.2%. This increase was mainly due to a drop in outflows, rather than an increase in new registrations. During the month of June 2020, the ADEM looked at 1,898 new resident jobseekers' applications - a decrease of  2.3% compared to June 2019. At the same time, the number of closed applications fell from 2,611 to 1,487 over one year.

The number of resident job seekers receiving full unemployment benefit increased by 3,030, or 42%, over one year, exceeding 10,000 people. Meanwhile, the number of beneficiaries of an unemployment measure decreased by 246 people, or 5.9%, compared to June 2019. In the absence of employment opportunities, these individuals will again find themselves among available resident job seekers, although the number of new measures remained reduced in June due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In June 2020, employers declared 3,003 vacant positions at ADEM, which corresponds to a decrease of 16.5 %% compared to June 2019. Nevertheless, compared to May 2020, the number of declared positions increased by 694 units or 30%

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, as calculated by STATEC, stands at 7.0%.
