The number of jobseekers registered with the ADEM employment agency in Luxembourg has increased by 2.9% over one year.

As of 31 August 2019, the number of available jobseekers registered with the ADEM was 15,370. Over one year, this represents an increase of 434 individuals, or 2.9%. On the other hand, the number of available non-resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM was 2,461 at the end of August 2019, a decrease of 6.5% compared to August 2018.

Over the course of August 2019, the ADEM opened 2,171 new applications from resident jobseekers, an increase of 3.3% compared to the previous year. In addition, the agency opened 444 new applications from non-resident jobseekers, which represents an increase of 100% over one year. In parallel, the number of closed applications rose. 

In addition, the total number of beneficiaries of employment benefits in Luxembourg was 3,924 at the end of last month. Over one year, this represents a decrease of 24 people, or 0.6%.

During the month of August 2019, employers reported 2,550 vacancies to ADEM, which equated to 67 or 2.6% fewer posts than in August 2018.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by STATEC remained stable at 5.4%.
