The number of jobseekers in Luxembourg has decreased by 2.5% over one year.
The number of available jobseekers registered with the ADEM was 15,956 as of 31 March 2018. Over one year, this represents a decrease of 411 people or 2.5%. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by Statec is 5.7%.
The decline has particularly benefitted jobseekers under the age of 30 (-7.5%) and low-skilled jobseekers (-5.9%). The number of long-term unemployed persons decreased by 4.5%. On the other hand, the number of jobseekers having graduated from higher education rose by 215 or 7.5%.
Moreover, the number of beneficiaries of an employment measure was 5,018 at the end of March 2018. In one year, this represents a drop of 360 persons or 6.7%. Nevertheless, two measures are experienced the opposite: the number of beneficiaries of the professionalisation internship has increased by 55 people and the number of those for adult learning has risen by 30.
During the month of March 2018, employers reported 3,839 vacancies to the ADEM, ie 648 positions or 20.3% more than in March 2017.
