Luxembourg's Ministry of Education, Children and Youth has reported that the Grand Duchy is preparing to showcase its talents at the ninth edition of EuroSkills, which will be held in Herning, Denmark, from Tuesday 9 to Saturday 13 September 2025.

The official presentation of the Luxembourg delegation took place on Wednesday 11 June 2025 at the premises of the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth in Luxembourg-Clausen.

This European competition highlights the professional skills of young people in fields as diverse as carpentry, IT, cooking and mechatronics. This year, 20 young professionals will represent Luxembourg in seventeen disciplines, accompanied by their experts. "Their commitment is a testament to the quality of vocational training in Luxembourg and the strength of its dual-track system," noted the ministry, adding that, in order to participate, young candidates had to qualify for the LuxSkills competition in early 2024.

During the team presentation, Luxembourg's Minister of Education, Children and Youth, Claude Meisch, emphasised the importance of professional competitions and careers: "Our young candidates are much more than just participants; they are ambassadors of our know-how, our ambition and our future." The minister also praised the "exceptional commitment" of the candidates and experts, who must invest many hours in preparation for the competition.

During EuroSkills, more than 600 participants aged sixteen to 25 from 33 European countries and regions will compete in 38 disciplines. Over three days, the young candidates will have to demonstrate not only their expertise but also their passion and talent. Over the course of three days, candidates will have 22 hours to complete a project related to their profession. Within the allotted time, particular attention will be paid to precise planning and professional execution. This exercise requires not only professional and physical skills, but also mental ones, with stress management being one of the key skills for reaching the podium.

Although the work must be completed independently, the competitors will not be alone: they will be supported and trained by Luxembourg experts, both before and during the event.

The ministry added that EuroSkills is more than just a competition: held every two years, this European championship provides a unique opportunity to discover the activities, materials and tools of a wide range of professions and trades in real-life situations.

The organisers are reportedly expecting 100,000 visitors (schoolchildren, students, teachers, representatives from industry, the commercial sector and the craft sector) who will be able to appreciate the high level of quality demonstrated on-site.

Beyond the Herning competition, the ministry said Luxembourg is looking to the future with the EuroSkills Düsseldorf 2027, a project carried out in collaboration with Germany. This cross-border initiative is said to illustrate the shared desire to promote technical professions and strengthen European synergies in vocational training.
