The Chinese Embassy in Luxembourg has announced that China is extending the visa-free travel period for Luxembourg nationals until 31 December 2025.

From midnight (00:00; Beijing time) on Saturday 30 November 2024 until midnight (Beijing time) on 31 December 2025, Luxembourg passport holders will be able to enter and stay in China without a visa for up to 30 days.

Earlier this year, the embassy announced the Chinese government's decision to extend the fifteen-day visa-free policy to 31 December 2025; the number of days has now been doubled.

The cited purpose of such visits to China include trade, tourism, visiting friends and relatives, exchanges, visits, study tours and transit.

The embassy noted that, thanks to joint efforts in recent years, the construction of the "Air Silk Road" has continued to make new progress, such as: the regular operation of the Zhengzhou-Guangzhou-Luxembourg direct passenger flight; the increase in the number of Cargolux flights to and from China; the opening of the Nanjing-Luxembourg direct cargo air route by China Postal Airlines; the recent opening by Luxembourg of seven visa centres in China.

The embassy said these measures have "created bridges to strengthen people-to-people, economic and trade exchanges".

Moreover, the embassy recalled that Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, and the Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, are currently leading an economic mission to China. The programme includes discussions with Chinese political and business leaders, as well as company visits, seminars and the Luxembourg-China Business Forum.

The Chinese Embassy in Luxembourg emphasised that "Luxembourgers are welcome in China for tourism, investment, trade and cooperation by direct passenger flight".
