On Wednesday 28 August 2024, Lux-Airport, the operating company of Luxembourg Airport, announced that its runway is closed for repairs.
Due to localised damage to the asphalt surface, the runway at Findel Airport is expected to remain closed for repairs until around 12:30.
Update: Due to the temporary closure of the airport runway in Luxembourg, take-offs and landings have been suspended, leading to disruptions in flight operations.
As flights are suspended until further notice, delays are expected and the flight to Oslo has been cancelled. However, as provisional solutions may be implemented, allowing operations to resume sooner than anticipated, Luxair noted it asks its passengers to arrive at the airport at their originally scheduled time and follow the instructions they will receive via message from the airline.
A temporary solution has already been put in place, reducing the runway, allowing De Havilland Q400-operated flights to take off. For the moment, the flights affected by the departure from Luxembourg are those to Tenerife, La Palma, Barcelona, Porto, Rome, Vienna, Prague, Venice, Copenhagen and Cagliari.
Luxair added it is closely monitoring the situation, providing refreshments for its passengers waiting at the airport and the airline is ready to resume operations as soon as possible.
