Esch-sur-Alzette-based taxi-booking platform TRIPO recently announced that 27 drivers had been approved to join its network as of Tuesday 6 October 2026.
The platform, which has been operating since May 2025, connects passengers with professional, licensed transport providers and allows users to request and pre-book journeys through an application or WhatsApp. Its services include airport transfers, group journeys and transport for event participants.
Chronicle.lu spoke with TRIPO to learn more about its services, pricing, operations and plans for further expansion in Luxembourg.
The company explained that its fares vary according to the service category and route, with fixed prices available for selected journeys. For example, a journey between Luxembourg Airport (Findel) and Esch-sur-Alzette costs €69, covering up to 35 km and 45 minutes.
Asked how its fares compare with those of traditional taxi operators and platforms such as Uber and Webtaxi, TRIPO said that it had not conducted a direct comparison. "I would not claim that TRIPO is always cheaper," the company stated, adding: "Our aim is to make booking straightforward and provide clear fare information for each journey."
Regarding its decision to establish the platform in Esch-sur-Alzette, TRIPO highlighted the importance of developing a service connected to the local community. "Esch-sur-Alzette is TRIPO's home base and we want to build a service rooted in the south of Luxembourg," the company explained.
TRIPO also pointed to the need for straightforward ways to arrange transport in advance, particularly for airport journeys, visitors, groups and event participants.
The company also highlighted the option of arranging transport through WhatsApp, alongside its application, as a way to simplify bookings for airport transfers, visitors, groups and event participants.
As for its operations, the platform does not operate its own vehicles but instead connects passengers with professional, licensed transport providers.
On its future plans, TRIPO stated: "Our next step is to continue building the licensed-driver network and extend the service's coverage in Luxembourg."
